:HELM — braid-backed

The :HELM reel, spooled with Hollow X16 Braid from DELTA, the same way serious big game crews rig their reels.

The spool carries roughly 500 m of DELTA 16-strand braid (223 lb / 0.77 mm) as backing, spliced to a monofilament topshot (1.5 mm / 200 lb). Splicing together monofilament and hollow braid is a time expensive process but reaches close 100% of  the holding strength.

Why braid + topshot for offshore trolling:

Roughly double the line capacity of pure mono  — real insurance when a big tuna, marlin, or wahoo decides to run. Mono where the fight happens. The topshot absorbs strikes and headshakes, protects against chafe and stays gentle on the drag stack.

Arrives mounted-ready with the marine-grade Sunbrella cover.
