Our top offshore outfit. Same :HELM reel, same Bluewater lure selection — but spooled the way serious bluewater crews rig their reels.
The spool carries roughly 580 m of Hercules 8-strand PE braid (180 lb / 0.7 mm) as backing, spliced to an 80 m monofilament topshot (1.5 mm / 200 lb) with a hand-tied FG knot.

Why braid + topshot for offshore trolling:
 
2× the line capacity of pure mono at the same diameter — real insurance when a big tuna, marlin, or wahoo decides to run. Mono where the fight happens. The 80 m topshot absorbs strikes and headshakes, protects against chafe on teeth and gill plates, and stays gentle on the drag stack. 
 
Arrives mounted-ready with the marine-grade Sunbrella cover. Built for anglers who plan to hook fish over 20 kg. If you're mostly coastal trolling, the standard :HELM Bluewater is the right call.
